Section 11 of the Public Health (Alcohol) Act 2018 comes into effect on 4 January 2022. It sets a 10 cent Minimum Unit Price per gram of pure alcohol. This means that from 4 January 2022, alcohol products cannot be sold below 10 cent per gram of pure alcohol. It also prohibits the advertisement or promotion of an alcohol product at a price below 10 cent per gram of pure alcohol. Alcohol products advertised, promoted or offered for sale below this price must be removed from sale or increased to at least the minimum unit price.
