NEWS RELEASE: RGDATA WELCOMES DAIL COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION THAT PROFITS 'VEIL OF SECRECY' BE LIFTED FOR LARGE MULTIPLE RETAILERS
RGDATA today (23rd October) RGDATA welcomes the publication of a Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine Report on the Grocery Sector that recommends a statutory code of conduct for the grocery sector and calls for legislation to force the publication of profits and turnover by the large multiples operating in Ireland.
"RGDATA is delighted that the recommendations made in our submission and our presentation have been adopted by this cross party Committee. In particular we welcome the recommendation that the large Multiple retailers like Tesco, Aldi & Lidl should reveal their profits in Ireland. We urge the Committee to ensure that all of the recommendations are implemented. This will be in the best interests of consumers, competition, local shops and fairness and transparency in the grocery sector," says Tara Buckley, Director General, RGDATA.
