RGDATA is the representative body for the Independent Retail Grocery Sector in Ireland. Formed in 1942 , the organisation has since rapidly expanded to include over 4,000 grocers in the State.
Its main aim and objective is to provide support for independent family grocers while encouraging and developing a high standard of retailing, equal to best European practice and competitor standards.
Activities:
The activities undertaken by RGDATA for its members are manifold. These include;
- The monitoring of new or impending legislation which effects the grocery trade
- Lobbying the Government when necessary
- Providing training and support programmes to members
- Offering ongoing advice and publications to members
- Countering adverse media content with a more balanced view
- Offering planning support, contesting the scale and location of shopping centres and multiple branches.

Structure & Organisation:
RGDATA operates from its headquarters in Blackrock, Co. Dublin. Composed of a board of directors representing all grocery interests in the retail trade, it always has an in-depth grocery market outlook and considerable experience to draw on.
