Our History
RGDATA WAS formed in 1942 and is the longest established retail trade association representing 4,000 independent, family owned grocery stores, convenience stores and supermarkets. RGDATA provides practical assistance and support for independent family grocers through our Helpline, members’ only section on www,rgdata.ie, RGDATA News e-zine and bi-annual publication RGDATA Update. Our key aim is to provide a strong representative voice for family owned grocery shops, convenience stores and supermarkets.

RGDATA has been to the fore in negotiating a freeze in retail grocery wages up to January 2011, and the agreement of a historic Code of Practice for the Press Industry (COPPI) and a Code of Practice for the Responsible Retailing of Alcohol in Ireland (RRAI) in 2009. RGDATA primary focus is to ensure that the rights and interests of all members are promoted and protected at every level.
